LIFE LIST - MONTHLY UPDATES
Friday 28th Phil Cadman(192) at last caught up with the BOHEMIAN WAXWING when Martin Warne found 19 birds at the top of the Willow trees on the North East edge of 'Bellmoor Lake', unfortunately they didn’t stay long and flew off North West.
Sunday 23rd Andy Shooter(192) and Bill Hurst(165) both added the superb ROUGH-LEGGED BUZZARD as it flew South West over Bellmoor lake towards Babworth.
Tuesday 18th Ian Hunt(185) added the JACK SNIPE when the single bird was re-located on the island on 'Bellmoor Lake'.
Thursday 13th Tony Tomlinson(196) added the BRENT GOOSE when nine were observed flying North West over 'Clayworth Common' unfortunately they didn’t stop.
Wednesday 12th Martin Warne(170) added three BOHEMIAN WAXWING that were observed as they flew West over 'Chainbridge Pit' towards Lound village.
Sunday 18th Martin Warne(169) added the JACK SNIPE that was relocated on the edge of island on 'Bellmoor Lake'. Amanda Nicholson(102) eventually passed the magical 100 species when she also added the JACK SNIPE , along with Eurasian Turtle-dove, Common Snipe and Stock Dove which were added earlier in the year, well done to Amanda.
Saturday 17th Daz Housman(183) added the JACK SNIPE that was showing well from the 'IVNR Visitors Centre' on the edge of 'Bellmoor Lake'. It was also noted by Tim Carter(127) who also submitted sightings of Short-eared Owl, Common (Mealy) Redpoll, Smew and Common Snipe to his Life List.
Friday 15th Andy Shooter(191) and Bill Hurst(166) finally added the COMMON STONECHAT that was still showing well South of the 'Conservation Lake, Clayworth Common'.
Tuesday 7th Daz Housman(182) noted two BOHEMIAN WAXWING as they flew North West over Bellmoor lake in the direction of Sutton-cum-Lound.
Wednesday 17th Martin Warne(168) added the COMMON SCOTER to his list, the bird was still residing on 'Neatholme Scrape'.
Monday 15th Ian Cowgill found a female/juvenile COMMON SCOTER on 'Neatholme Scrape', Des Roberts(179) and Andy Shooter(190), both added it to their respective Lound Life Lists.
Monday 1st Once again the YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER showed well at times during the day although it was quite mobile. Steve Moakes(137) made an early start in the morning to add the bird to his life list, Steve also updated his life list, with EURASIAN TURTLE DOVE, GARGANEY and EURASIAN MARSH HARRIER. Dave Read (163), added the bird mid-morning. Tony Tomlinson(195) eventually recorded the bird later in the morning after a four hour patient search, later in the afternoon, Andy Shooter(189) added it to his Life List after another patient search.
Sunday 30th The YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER still showed on and off today, Paul Hobson(223), Stuart Davenport(216), Pete Freeman(200), Martin Warne(167) and Des Roberts(179) all added the bird to their Lists.
Saturday 29th Daz Housman(181) found the second ever 'Lound Bird Club' sighting of the YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER in 'Chainbridge Wood', it was also observed by Gary Hobson (227), (which extended his lead at the top of the table to 4 species). Pete Cottam (198), Phil Cadman(191) and Ian Hunt (184) all added the bird to their Lound Life Lists.
Sunday 12th Martin Warne(166) added the SPOTTED FLYCATCHER that was noted in the 'Willows (N)'.
Monday 30th Tony Tomlinson(194) had a brief glimpse of a single GREAT SKUA as it flew South landing in the 'Tiln North' pool to bathe, unfortunately it was soon gone.
Sunday 29th Andy Shooter(188) finally added the OSPREY as a single bird flew South over the reserve.
Thursday 14th Ian Hunt(183) added the LONG-TAILED DUCK, which was still residing on the 'Neatholme Scrape'
Monday 11th Phil Cadman(190), Martin Warne(165), Des Roberts(178) & Daz Housman(180) all added the superb LONG-TAILED DUCK that was found by Ian Cowgill on 'Neatholme Scrape'.
Sunday 10th Martin Warne(164) added the RED KITE that flew over 'Parish Park'.
Thursday 31st Amanda Nicholson(98) added GARDEN WARBLER, RUDDY TURNSTONE, MISTLE THRUSH and EURASIAN REED WARBLER, on the Big Bird Day walk.
Saturday 26th Dave Read(162) added both the EURASIAN GOLDEN ORIOLE that was heard and seen briefly in 'Parish Park', he also added the EUROPEAN HONEY BUZZARD that was noted flying over the 'Parish Park' area.
Wednesday 16th Phil Cadman(189) disturbed a male EUROPEAN NIGHTJAR that flew up from the grass just a few metres away from the Eastern Lake at Parish Park.
Sunday 7th Amanda Nicholson(94) added COMMON CUCKOO, SPOTTED REDSHANK, SONG THRUSH and LESSER WHITETHROAT.
Sunday 15th Amanda Nicholson(90) added six more species to her Life List, which included, NORTHERN GOSHAWK, GOOSANDER, PIED AVOCET, COMMON RINGED PLOVER, EURASIAN JAY and GOLDCREST.
Friday 17th Ian Cowgill(207) submitted his very impressive Life List, he added the BRENT GOOSE, this year, he also has one or two notable specie's, such as GULL-BILLED TERN and ROSEATE TERN.
Thursday 29th Phil Cadman(188), Ian Hunt(179), Martin Warne(163) and Jason King set off to walk along the 'River Idle' from the IVNR, it was Jason that found a large raptor heading towards us, we were rewarded with our first Lound NORTHERN GOSHAWK, which circled over the Tiln Fishery before stooping towards Broom Wood and was lost to sight.
Tuesday 14th Martin Warne(162) added the FIRECREST that was recorded Briefly by himself and Phil Cadman in the 'Chainbridge Nature Reserve Wood'. After many years of frustrating searching Tony Tomlinson(193) finally added the FIRECREST to his Life List, the bird was still showing well in the 'Chainbridge Wood'. It was also added to the list of Pete Cottam(197).
Amanda Nicholson(85) Added another 12 Species to her life list, notable Species were SMEW and EUROPEAN GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE.
Saturday 28th Phil Lee found a single BRENT GOOSE on Neatholme Scrape that enhanced the Lists, of Ian Cowgill(207), Phil Cadman(187), Ian Hunt(178), Martin Warne(161), Daz Housman(179), Pete Freeman(199), Andy Shooter(187), Pete Cottam(196) and Des Roberts(176).
Wednesday 18th There was a single GLAUCOUS GULL that was found by Phil Cadman and Martin Warne(160) in the large Gull roost on Chainbridge Pit.
