Friday 23rd March

A White Stork was the highlight but its origins may be suspect. Martin Warne has commented that "there was a white stork reported at Adwick, Doncaster on the March 21st and at Old Moor RSPB reserve near  Rotherham, on the 22nd probably the same bird". Dave Mannifield also commented that one was recently (until late February or early March 2012) at Kirby-on-Bain Pits, Lincs (that bird having two odd black tail feathers) and was also previously in Fife, Scotland in November & December 2011. Check out this link.

Bellmoor - A single WHITE STORK (MS et al) was observed flying over here this morning whilst the finder was leading a walk, but the bird showed what was described as "heavy wear on the right wing and it seems early for a migrant and so it is likely to be of feral origin" which you would assume to be the case though it is difficult to prove origin without sight of rings or wing tags. Also here were up to 4 Chiffchaff, a pair of Goosander, a pair of Red-crested Pochard, 4 Pochard and 2 Oystercatcher. Bunker Wood - Single Goldcrest and 2 Chiffchaff.
