Butterflies April 2017

The 2017 Year List stands at 9 Recorded Species. The Reserve List has 28 Recorded Species

 

Sunday 23rd. As the sun made a prolonged appearance the Butterflies appeared, the maximum temperature was around 13°C. Recorded around the Reserve were (32) male Orange Tip, (3) Small White, (6) Green-veined White, (10) Brimstone, (6) Speckled Wood, (17) Peacock, (1) Small Tortoiseshell and (5) Comma.

Thursday 20th There were just (2) male Orange Tip, (2) Speckled Wood, and (2) Green-veined White, that were recorded on the reserve. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt, Tony Tomlinson)

 

Tuesday 18th. There was just a single male Orange Tip that was noted around 'Bellmoor Lake'.(Phil & Josie Cadman)

 

Monday 17th. There was a single female Orange Tip, (3) Green-veined White, and a single Speckled Wood, that were recorded around the Northern end of the Reserve. (Phil Cadman)

 

Sunday 16th. Noted around the Reserve today were (5) male Orange Tip, a single Small White, (2) Green-veined White, and (4) Speckled Wood. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

 

Friday 14th There were just singles of Small White and Peacock, that were recorded. (Phil Cadman.)

 

Thursday 13th. There were (3) Orange Tip, (5) Green-veined White, (3) Speckled Wood, a single Small White, which was the first Reserve record of 2017, (2) Peacock and a single Comma, that were all recorded around the North of the Reserve.  (Phil Cadman Ian Hunt)

 

Monday 10th. There were (2) Orange Tip, (2) Green-veined White, with singles of Speckled Wood, and Peacock, that were noted around the 'Chainbridge Wood NR' area. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

 

Sunday 9th. The first Holly Blue (PF) of 2017 was recorded around the 'Linghurst Pool'. There were (4) Green-veined White, (3) Orange Tip and (6) Speckled Wood that were noted around the North of the reserve. (Ian Hunt, Pete Freeman)

 

Saturday 8th. The sun really fetched out the Butterflies as The Southern side of the reserve produced (42) Orange Tip, (4) Comma, (7) Small Tortoiseshell, a single Large White, which was the first reserve sighting of 2017, (19) Green-veined White, (10) Peacock, (4) Brimstone, a single Speckled Wood and a single Small White which was the first reserve sighting of 2017. The Northern side of the reserve produced just a single Speckled Wood, (5) Peacock, and a single Comma. (Gary Hobson, Phil Cadman)

 

Friday 7th. There were (3) male Orange Tip and a single male Brimstone that were recorded around 'Parish Park'. (Phil & Josie Cadman)

 

Thursday 6th. A walk around the northern side of the reserve, produced a single Green-veined White and two Speckled Wood, both were additions to the 2017 Year List, also noted were (5) male Orange Tip, (6) Brimstone, which included a single female, (5) Peacock, and a single Comma. Monday 3rd. There were (8) male Orange Tip, (6) Brimstone and (9) Peacock, that were recorded around the reserve. (Ian Hunt, Phil & Josie Cadman)

 

Sunday 2nd. There were 2 male Orange Tip that were recorded in 'Chainbridge Wood NR'. (Pete Freeman)
