Butterflies July 2017

The 2017 Year List stands at 23 Recorded Species. The Reserve List has 29 Recorded Species

 

Saturday 29th. There were singles of Small Skipper, Green-veined White, and Ringlet, (13) Meadow Brown, (4) Gatekeeper,  (40) Red Admiral,  a single Painted Lady, (9) Peacock, singles of Small Tortoiseshell and Small Copper, (4) Comma and (8) Common Blue. (Pete Freeman)

Sunday 23rd. There were (4) Essex Skipper, (7) Small Skipper, (3) Large Skipper, (2) Large White, a single Small White, (8) Green-veined White, (5) Speckled Wood, (11) Ringlet, (74) Meadow Brown, (43) Gatekeeper, (32) Red Admiral, a single Small Tortoiseshell, (3) Comma and (7) Common Blue, that were noted around the reserve. Tuesday 18th. There were (16) Red Admiral, (3) Painted Lady and (2) Comma, that were recorded in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR'. (Tony Tomlinson)

Monday 17th.  A walk around Tiln Pits and the 'Chainbridge Wood NR' produced (58) Small Skipper, (5) Large Skipper, (9) Large White, (12) Green-veined White, (2) Speckled Wood, (46) Ringlet, (53) Meadow Brown, (54) Gatekeeper, (11) Red Admiral, (2) Peacock, (11) Small Tortoiseshell, (6) Comma and (4) Common Blue. Sunday 16th. A walk around Bellmoor produced (5) Large White, (18) Green-veined White, (3) Speckled Wood, (16) Ringlet, (24) Meadow Brown, (20) Gatekeeper, (16) Red Admiral, a single Small Tortoiseshell, (9) Comma and a single Common Blue. (Ian Hunt, Phil Cadman)

Wednesday 12th. A walk around 'Parish Park' and 'Linghurst Wood' produced (51) Small Skipper, (2) Large White, (2) Green-veined White, a single Speckled Wood and (32) Ringlet, (89) Meadow Brown, (45) Gatekeeper, (3) Red Admiral and a single Painted Lady. (Phil Cadman)

Monday 10th There were (2) Small Skipper, (2) Large White, (3) Green-veined White, a single Speckled Wood, (8) Ringlet, (15) Meadow Brown, (18) Gatekeeper, (2) Red Admiral and a single Comma, that were all recorded around the Reserve. (Ian Hunt, Phil Cadman)

Thursday 6th. There were (4) Small Skipper, (3) Large White, (5) Green-veined White, (18) Ringlet, (16) Meadow Brown, (4) Gatekeeper, (9) Red Admiral and (6) Comma, that were recorded around 'Chainbridge Pit' and 'Chainbridge Wood NR'. (Ian Hunt, Phil Cadman)

Monday 3rd.  A walk around South of the reserve around the Bellmoor area produced (6) Small Skipper, (8) Large Skipper, (15) Green-veined White, (2) Speckled Wood, (34) Ringlet, (26) Meadow Brown, (6) Gatekeeper, (18) Red Admiral, singles of Painted Lady and Small Tortoiseshell and (19) Comma. Sunday 2nd.  A walk around the Water Ski Pit and Bellmoor area produced a single Large Skipper, (3) Large White, a single Speckled Wood, (17) Ringlet, (5) Meadow Brown, (7) Gatekeeper, (15) Red Admiral, (3) Small Tortoiseshell and (9) Comma. (Ian Hunt, Phil Cadman, Andy Bell).
