Butterflies June 2018

The 2018 Year List stands at 18 Recorded Species. The Reserve List has 28 Recorded Species

 

Report up to Wednesday, 20 June 2018

Monday 18th. Week twelve of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced (4) Large Skipper, singles of Speckled Wood and Red Admiral, with (7) Meadow Brown, in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR'. There were (2) Large Skipper, (3) Common Blue, and (38) Meadow Brown in Alan's Meadow. There were no Butterfly sightings recorded in the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake) Transect. Also noted around the reserve were (4) Large Skipper, singles of Small White and Green-veined White, (15) Speckled Wood, the first 2018 Reserve sighting of the Ringlet, was recorded on 'Neatholme Fen' there was a second sighting around Linghurst Lakes ('Parish Park'), (5) Meadow Brown, with singles of Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell,  Red Admiral and Comma, (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

 

Monday 11th. Week eleven of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced (2) Large Skipper and a single Speckled Wood in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR'. There were (5) Large Skipper, (3) Common Blue, a single male Brimstone and the first recorded Meadow Brown of 2018 in Alan's Meadow. There was just a single Speckled Wood, that was recorded in the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake) Transect. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt). Also noted around the reserve were (3) Large Skipper, (4) Speckled Wood, (3) Meadow Brown, a single Small Tortoiseshell and (5) Common Blue. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt, Pete Freeman).

 

Wednesday 6th. Week ten of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced a single Speckled Wood in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR', (2) Large Skipper, and a single female Common Blue, in Alan's Meadow. Once again there were no Butterflies that were recorded in the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake) Transect. (Phil Cadman). Also noted around the Reserve were (4) Large Skipper, (2) Brimstone, (2) Speckled Wood, singles of Red Admiral and Brown Argus and (4) Common Blue, that were also recorded around the Reserve. Tuesday 5th. There was a single Large Skipper, (3) Speckled Wood, a single Peacock, (2) Brown Argus, and (7) Common Blue, were noted around the reserve. (Pete Freeman)

 

Friday 1st. There was a single Green-veined White, that was recorded around 'Bellmoor Lake'. (Phil Cadman)
