Butterflies June 2017

The 2017 Year List stands at 23 Recorded Species. The Reserve List has 28 Recorded Species

 

Monday 26th. The weather was fine and dry, there were scattered clouds, the temperature was around 19°C. There was a total of (2) Essex Skipper, Year 2017 addition, (29) Small Skipper, (7) Large White, a single Green-veined White, (2) Speckled Wood, a single Small Heath, (65) Ringlet, (165) Meadow Brown, a single Gatekeeper, (3) Red Admiral, (9) Comma, (3) Small Tortoiseshell and a single male Common Blue, were all recorded around the reserve. Sunday 25th. The weather was a little cloudy and windy from the West, the temperature was around 19°C. There were (11) Small Skipper, (7) Large Skipper, Small Tortoiseshell, (4) Large White, a single Green-veined White, (3) Speckled Wood, (c235) Ringlet, (c110) Meadow Brown, a single Gatekeeper first reserve record of 2017, (3) Red Admiral and (10) Comma, that were all recorded around the reserve. Monday 19th. The weather was absolutely superb with clear skies sunshine with a maximum temperature of 30°C. There were (4) Large Skipper, (2) Large White, (8) Speckled Wood, (12) Ringlet, (17) Meadow Brown, (3) Red Admiral and a single Painted Lady. (Ian Hunt)

 

Saturday 17th. The weather was warm and sunny with a few scattered clouds, the maximum temperature was around 22°C. There was a single Small Skipper, which was the first reserve record of 2017, (4) Ringlet, and (12) Meadow Brown, that were noted around the reserve. (P. Freeman)

 

Thursday 15th. The weather was sunny with a few scattered clouds, the maximum temperature was around 22°C. a walk around 'Parish Park' produced, (15) Meadow Brown, (6) Large Skipper, the first 2017 record of Ringlet, when 7 were recorded, there were (3) Speckled Wood, that were also recorded. Sunday 11th. The weather was fine and dry, with scattered cloud and a little sunshine. The maximum temperature was around 21°C. The first 2017 Reserve sighting of (4) Meadow Brown, were recorded by Pete Freeman around the 'Lower Sheep Fields'. (Pete Freeman.)
