Butterflies May 20018

The 2018 Year List stands at 16 Recorded Species. The Reserve List has 28 Recorded Species

 

Report up to Wednesday, 30 May 2018 

 

Tuesday 29th. There was a single Dingy Skipper (PF) that was recorded around Linghurst Lakes ('Parish Park'), (3) Green-veined White, a single Brimstone, (7) Speckled Wood, singles of Red Admiral and Peacock, (3) Brown Argus and (7) Common Blue. (Ian Hunt, Pete Freeman.)

 

Monday 28th. Week nine of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced singles of Dingy Skipper, Large White, and Common Blue, with (2) Green-veined White, which were all recorded in Alan's Meadow. There was a single male Orange Tip and (2) Green-veined White, that were recorded in 'Chainbridge Wood NR' and once again the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake) failed to produce a single Butterfly. Also recorded around the reserve were a single Dingy Skipper around the 'Water Ski Pit', singles of Orange Tip, and Large White, (3) Green-veined White, (2) Brimstone, (2) Speckled Wood, (3) Red Admiral, singles of Peacock, and Brown Argus, (which was am addition the the LBC & IVNR Reserve list) and (13) Common Blue. Sunday 27th. There were the first 2018 records of Dingy Skipper that were recorded around the 'Cross Lane Fishery', and a single Large Skipper, that was also a 2018 Reserve addition, (6) Orange Tip, (13) Green-veined White, (2) Brimstone, a single Red Admiral and Peacock, the first 2018 Reserve record of a Small Copper, a single Brown Argus and (13) Common Blue. Saturday 26th. There were singles of Green-veined White, Speckled Wood and Common Blue, that were noted around 'Bunker Wood'. (Andy Bell)

 

Monday 21st. Week eight of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced a single Green-veined White, in 'Chainbridge Wood NR', a single Orange Tip, in the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake), whilst on Alan's Meadow, there were singles of Orange Tip, Common Blue, and Brimstone and (2) Green-veined White. Also noted around the reserve were singles of Green-veined White, Speckled Wood, and Peacock. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

 

Sunday 20th. A walk around the Northern end of the IVNR reserve & LBC Recording area produced, (5) Orange Tip, (13) Green-veined White, (13) Speckled Wood, with singles of Peacock, Red Admiral and Brown Argus, the last two were LBC & IVNR Reserve Year 2018 additions. (P.Cadman)

 

Saturday 19th. A walk around Alan's Meadow produced (2) Green-veined White, and singles of Speckled Wood, and Large White. (P.Cadman)

 

Monday 14th Week Seven of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced a single Large White, (5) Green-veined White, a single male Brimstone and (2) Small Tortoiseshell in Alan's Meadow. There were (2) Orange Tip, a single Large White, (2) Green-veined White and a single Peacock, that were recorded in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR' Transect. Once again there were no Butterfly sightings in the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake).

Also noted around the reserve were (17) Orange Tip, (3) Large White, a single Small White, (17) Green-veined White, (5) Brimstone, (8) Speckled Wood and a single Holly Blue. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt, Neil Sainthouse, Andy Bell).

 

Thursday 10th. There were (2) Orange Tip, a single Large White, (7) Green-veined White and (3) Speckled Wood that were recorded around the 'Chainbridge Pit' area. (Ian Hunt, Phil Cadman).

 

Tuesday 8th. There was a total of 134 Butterflies that were noted around the reserve, with (68) Orange Tip, (9) Large White, (7) Small White, (11) Green-veined White, (5) Brimstone, (8) Speckled Wood, (13) Peacock, (11) Small Tortoiseshell, with singles of Comma and the first 2018 Reserve record of Small Copper. Monday 7th. Week Six of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced a single Orange Tip and Small Tortoiseshell, with (5) Green-veined White, in Alan's Meadow. There were (4) Orange Tip, (4) Green-veined White and a single female Brimstone that were recorded in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR' Transect. Once again there were no Butterfly sightings in the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake).

Also noted around the reserve was a single male Orange Tip, (6) Green-veined White, a single Speckled Wood and (2) Peacock. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

 

Sunday 6th.  Recorded around the Reserve were (14) Orange Tip, (2) Small White, (21) Green-veined White, (4) Brimstone, (4) Speckled Wood and (5) Peacock. (Ian Hunt).

 

Friday 4th. Recorded around the Reserve were (21) Orange Tip, (4) Green-veined White, (2) Large White, (4) Brimstone, (8) Small Tortoiseshell and (11) Peacock. (Tony Tomlinson).

There were (2) Orange Tip, (8) Green-veined White, (3) Brimstone and singles of Peacock, and Comma that were recorded in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR' Transect. Once again there were no Butterfly sightings in the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake).

Tuesday 1st. There were (11) Orange Tip, (3) Green-veined White, (Reserve Year List Addition), (5) Brimstone, (3) Speckled Wood, (8) Peacock, and (8) Small Tortoiseshell, that were all noted around the reserve. (Tony Tomlinson, Ken Wilson).
