Dragonflies June 2018

Monday 18th. Week twelve of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced (122) Banded Demoiselle, of which 71 were male, there was an estimated number of 370 Common Blue Damselfly, and (7) Blue-tailed Damselfly, (2) Southern Hawker and a single Brown Hawker, which were both Lound 2018 reserve records. There were (4) Four-spotted Chaser, singles of Emperor Dragonfly and Broad-bodied Chaser and (17) Black-tailed Skimmer, of which (10) were male. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

Monday 11th. Week eleven of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced (55) Banded Demoiselle, of which 36 were male, there was an estimated number of 150 Common Blue Damselfly, and (5) Blue-tailed Damselfly, a single Large Red Damselfly, the first Lound 2018 sighting of the Emperor Dragonfly when (5) were noted which included 3 male. There were (4) Four-spotted Chaser and (14) Black-tailed Skimmer, of which (8) were male. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

Wednesday 6th. During the day, Week 10 of the Butterfly Monitoring session produced, a total of (62) Banded Demoiselle, around the Butterfly transect recording area, most were recorded in 'Chainbridge Wood NR'. (Phil Cadman)

Friday 1st. There were (4) Four-spotted Chaser that were observed in flight around the newly formed Scrape and boardwalk at the 'IVNR Visitors Centre'. (Phil Cadman)
