Tiln Fishery - Single male Merlin noted hunting on fields south of here at 9:15am this morning, 1 female Sparrowhawk hunting, 1 Kestrel, 305 Greylag Geese, 20 Canada Geese, 64 Wigeon, 22 Pochard, 10 Teal, 136 Black-headed Gull, 28 Common Gull, 14 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 5 Cormorant and 1 Grey Heron. Tiln Wood - 110 Pink-footed Geese flew NW over here and Lound village at 10:45am. Chainbridge Lane - Large Greylag/Canada flock on the deck on Short Rotation Coppice fields. Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) - Five Whooper Swans (including 2 adults and 3 immature) roosting here this afternoon. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - 26 Shelduck, 50+ Shoveler, 70+ Teal and 1 Song Thrush. Chainbridge Pit - Single 'redhead' SMEW (DM et al) present again this afternoon, 1 Redshank, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 5+ Goldeneye, 1 Grey Heron and 21 Goosander. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single Short-eared Owl hunting western edge alongside the river from 3:50pm until dusk with at least 2 Barn Owl, 1 Kestrel, 1 Ruff flew over towards Clayworth Common, 1 Stonechat in NE corner, 100+ Wigeon at dusk, 1 Reed Bunting, 1 Mistle Thrush flew over, 1 Goldcrest and 50+ Starlings. Clayworth Common - Five Ruff flew to Chainbridge Pit at dusk and 50+ Lapwing. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - 308+ Wigeon early morning then just 74+ late afternoon with some birds having moved to Tiln North to feed, 5 Gadwall, 4 Tufted Duck, 5+ Teal and 10+ Skylark feeding around pit edges. River Idle (Cross Lane Marsh) - Single CETTI'S WARBLER (IC) seen and heard calling on river bank opposite Cross Lane ditch outfall pipe at around 10:00am but no further sign this afternoon or evening, 1 Water Rail, 1 Stonechat, 1 Green Woodpecker calling, 2 Wren and 3 Goosander. Neatholme Pit - Four Whooper Swans flew NE over here this morning, 63 Teal, 17 Pochard, 8 Goldeneye and 1 Great Crested Grebe. Neatholme Scrape - 33 Teal, 12 Gadwall, 30 Shoveler, 26 Tufted Duck, 16 Goldeneye Neatholme Fen - 172 Teal, 20+ Shoveler, 53 Pochard, 6 Goldeneye and 1 Great Crested Grebe. Mattersey Common - c100 Pink-footed Geese in fields east of River Idle and Blaco. Lound Village - 160 Pink-footed Geese flew over NW at 13:00pm. Neatholme Fen - Single 2nd-winter ICELAND GULL (DHo) present here at 14:10pm. Chainbridge Pit - Single 'redhead' SMEW reportedly present here this morning. Parish Park - Mixed flock of 60+ finches mainly Goldfinch with a few Lesser Redpoll and Siskins plus single Coal Tit and Goldcrest. Lound Sewage Works - Single Chiffchaff and a pair of Bullfinch. Linghurst Wood - Five Lesser Redpoll with mixed tit flock. Linghurst Pool - Good numbers of wildfowl including a single Goldeneye. Lound Village - A flock of 50 Redwing feeding in orchard in a garden in the village and 25 Yellowhammer were in a nearby hedgerow. Linghurst Wood - A flock of 60 Redwing feeding on the ground in the wood. Parish Park - c25 Lesser Redpoll. Blaco (Farm & Cottages) - A small group of 6 Tree Sparrows in hedgerow here. Blaco (Fields) - Single female Marsh Harrier hunting the area. Neatholme Scrape - Single 'ringtail' HEN HARRIER (IC et al) noted with a female Marsh Harrier at 11:50pm plus a male Marsh Harrier was also reported here. Neatholme Fen - Two Little Egret flew in. Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) - Single Little Egret and 1 Stonechat on island. Chainbridge Lane - Two Lesser Redpoll. Chainbridge Wood NR - Single Green Woodpecker calling, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Coal Tit and 2 Greenfinch. Chainbridge Pit - The single 'redhead' SMEW (PJF,PCo) now present here from 13:30pm until at 16:10pm at least feeding in SE corner. Also here today 4 Egyptian Geese, 2 Pintail, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Bullfinch, 3 Goldeneye, 1 Snipe and 5 Goosander. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single female Stonechat in reeds along northern edge, a Peregrine was seen hunting, 2 Meadow Pipit, 36 Linnet, 2 Buzzard, 1 Barn Owl was seen at 16:20pm and 1 Short-eared Owl sat on a fencepost at 16:30pm. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Up to 22 Skylark. Clayworth Common - Three Buzzard. Cross Lane - Single female Sparrowhawk over and 1 Green Woodpecker. River Idle (Cross Lane Marsh) - Two Chiffchaff feeding in riverside trees plus 1 Water Rail seen feeding and heard calling and 1 Little Grebe on river. Walters Lane Pit - A covey of up to 12 Grey Partridge feeding in field. Walters Lane (Sheep Fields) - Two Ruff still plus 11 Golden Plover and 3 Egyptian Geese. Water Ski Pit - Single Grey Wagtail flew over. Neatholme Pit - Eight Goldeneye. Neatholme Fen - Two Goldeneye and 1 Buzzard. Neatholme Scrape - Up to 11 Goldeneye, 2 immature Whooper Swans with Mute Swans, 2 Green Woodpecker in trees, 2 Song Thrush and Water Rail heard calling along river here. Bellmoor (Bailey Bridge) - Single Woodcock flushed in scrub behind pines here this morning plus Siskin noted here. Walters Lane (Sheep Fields) - Single Ruff, 50+ Lapwing, 300+ Rook, 50+ Jackdaw, 2 Mistle Thrush, 50+ Fieldfare, 25 Redwing, female Sparowhawk and 100+ Starlings. Chainbridge Pit - Single Grey Heron, 8 Goosander, 5 Cormorant, 1 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe and 5 Goldeneye. Chainbridge Wood - Single Tawny Owl calling at dusk. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Two Jack Snipe this morning, a pair of Stonechat around cattle feeder all morning and a Barn Owl at southern end at 4:20pm this evening. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - 15 Skylark and 80+ Wigeon feeding on far bank. River Idle (Cross Lane Marsh) - Single CETTI'S WARBLER (TT) flew over river into reeds but soon disappeared and is still extremely elusive, also here 1 Water Rail still calling, 1 Snipe calling, 1 Kestrel and 1 Green Woodpecker calling. Clayworth Common - Two adult Whooper Swans with c90 Mute Swans, 15 Skylarks again, up to 5 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel and 1 Peregrine noted very distantly mid morning being chased by a small looking falcon sp (Merlin?) then was later sat on deck on common. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Single male Pintail, 4 Shelduck and 2 Shoveler. Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) - Four Goosander, 90 Pink-footed Geese flew high west, 3 Shelduck, 3 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Skylark over, 10 Teal, 1 Mistle Thrush over, 1 Redwing over, 1 Green Woodpecker calling, 1 Great Crested Grebe and 1 Buzzard. Windsurf Pool - Single Bullfinch, 2 Dunnock, 2 Wigeon and 8 Mute Swan plus 6+ plastic Decoy Ducks and two individuals shooting wildfowl here today. Hawthorn Lane - Five Lesser Black-backed Gulls over, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Dunnock and 3+ Redwing. Water Ski Pit - Single Grey Heron, 3 Shoveler, 5 Cormorant, 10 Teal and 2 Bullfinch. Parish Park/Linghurst Wood - Single Treecreeper, 20+ Long-tailed Tit, 1 Stock Dove, 100+ Lesser Redpoll with 50+ Goldfinch and 3 Bullfinch. Linghurst Pool - Five Little Egrets roosting in trees on western bank, 1 Shelduck, 9 Goldeneye, 12 Teal, 30 Wigeon, 3 Herring Gull over and 1 Green Woodpecker. Neatholme Fen - Three Little Egrets, 1 male Sparowhawk, 1 Buzzard, 1 Jay, 1 Shelduck, 100+ Teal, 60+ Pochard, 40 Wigeon and 1 Skylark over. Wildgoose Farm - Three Buzzard including a bird in heavy primary moult in one wing, 5+ Skylark, 2 Redwing, 1 Jay, 1 Reed Bunting and 5+ Great Tit. Neatholme Pit - Six Goldeneye, 50+ Teal, 20 Mallard, 10+ Pochard, 1 Water Rail on edge of pit, 1 Grey Wagtail over towards Blaco, 1 Reed Bunting, 3 Cormorants and a Tawny Owl roosting nearby. Neatholme Scrape - Nine Goldeneye, a pair of Pintail, 19 Cormorant, 100 Black-headed Gulls, a number of Common Gulls late afternoon, 3 Shelduck, 1 Grey Wagtail and 2 Bullfinch.
