Lound Year List Competition 2018

In accordance with the LBC directive on the publication of potential sensitive breeding Species, any sensitive Species recorded by Competition members will be added to their Total, but will not appear in the Report. They can be viewed on the Members Page though.

 

Congratulations to Daz Housman who once again won the Lound 2017 Year List Competition with a total of 162 recorded Species, it was the fifth consecutive year that he has won the competition.

 

The Competition members total to date of 97 different Species recorded in January requires another 9 Species to equal the previous highest total of 106 Species that were recorded in January 2016.

 

Phil Cadman requires another 12 more Species to equal the individual record of 103 Species that were recorded in January 2016 by Daz Housman.

A Collective Total of 97 Species have been recorded up to 19/01/2018

 

Thursday 18th Phil Cadman(91) added singles of Grey Wagtail and Eurasian Woodcock around the 'Hallcroft Fishing Complex' area. Ian Hunt (82) added another four species which included the Grey Wagtail and Eurasian Woodcock as well as Common Chiffchaff around the 'Hallcroft Fishing Complex' and Reed Bunting near the 'IVNR Visitors Centre'.

 

Wednesday 17th Daz Housman(88) added two Red-legged Partridge on 'Neatholme Fen' to cut the lead at the top of the table to just one Specie.

 

Monday 15th. Phil Cadman(89) moved two species clear at the top of the table when adding the two Common Chiffchaff that were noted in the trees above the dyke around the entrance to the 'Hallcroft Fishing Complex'.

 

Sunday 14th Phil Cadman(88) moved to the top of the table when adding Eurasian Golden-Plover, Northern Pintail and the Red-crested Pochard's. Ian Hunt (78) added another 11 species which included, Ruff, Eurasian Green Woodpecker, Eurasian Golden-Plover, Red-crested Pochard, Common Pheasant, Little Egret, Meadow Pipit, Eurasian Skylark, European Greenfinch, Eurasian Nuthatch and Eurasian Sparrowhawk.

 

Saturday 13th Daz Housman (87) increased his lead at the top of the table when he added the Red-crested Pochard's on the 'Water Ski Pit'. Ian Hunt (67) added another six species to his list, when he recorded a single Hawfinch around the Lound cross-roads, two Brambling at 'Walter's Farm' with House Sparrow and Feral Pigeon, the single overwintering Green Sandpiper on the 'Bluebell Fisheries Pond' and two male Northern Pintail on 'Chainbridge Scrape (E)'.

 

Friday 12th Ian Hunt(61) added Great Egret, Grey Heron, Dunlin, Common Snipe, Common Stonechat and Stock Dove today.

 

Thursday 11th Daz Housman (86) added the five Whooper Swan's on Hayton Common, and Common Wood-pigeon which was missed from his first list of the Year. Phil Cadman (85) with the help of Daz Housman, added a single Hawfinch in Lound Village and the Whooper Swan's on Hayton Common, he also added two Ruff on the 'Clayworth Common Conservation Lake', a single Peregrine Falcon that flushed all of the wildfowl and Northern Lapwings on 'Chainbridge Scrape (E)'. A single Brambling that was associating with the large flock of Common Chaffinch on 'Walter's Lane' and at least four Goldcrest that were noted around 'Hallcroft Fishing Complex'.

 

Wednesday 10th Daz Housman (84) further increased his lead at the top of the table, when he recorded a single over-wintering Green Sandpiper on 'Tiln North Wader Scrape', then a Tawny Owl that was heard calling from the 'Hallcroft Fishing Complex'.

 

Tuesday 9th Daz Housman(82) added the single adult Winter Plumage Mediterranean Gull on 'Bellmoor Lake', then two Hawfinch that were recorded in the Lound Village.

 

Monday 8th Daz Housman(80) added the single Eurasian Nuthatch on the feeders in Pete Freeman 's garden, he also added a Song Thrush in the village. Phil Cadman (79) also added the Eurasian Nuthatch, with European Greenfinch and Coal Tit on the feeders in Pete Freeman 's garden. Song Thrush and Eurasian Tree Sparrow were also noted in the village, whilst 100+ Eurasian Siskin were noted in 'Bunker Wood', 2 Grey Heron were recorded in flight over 'Bellmoor Lake' and a single Eurasian Green Woodpecker was heard calling in the 'Hallcroft Fishing Complex'.

 

Sunday 7th Daz Housman(78) added Great Egret and Eurasian Sparrowhawk to further increase his lead at the top of the table. Ian Hunt (55) added Fieldfare, Redwing, Mistle Thrush, Song Thrush, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Yellowhammer, Common Pochard, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Eurasian Jay and Long-tailed Tit

 

Saturday 6th Daz Housman (76) added Grey Partridge, Northern Pintail, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Water Rail, Common Snipe, Yellow-legged Gull, Eurasian Tree Sparrow, Common Linnet and Yellowhammer. Phil Cadman (71) added Grey Partridge, Common Snipe, Common Linnet, House Sparrow, Feral Pigeon, Pink-footed Goose, Eurasian Skylark, Meadow Pipit and Common Stonechat.

 

Friday 5th Daz Housman (67) added Pink-footed Goose and the Little Owl around 'Bellmoor Farm'.

 

Thursday 4th Phil Cadman (62) added Little Owl, Merlin, Water Rail, Mistle Thrush, Egyptian Geese, Herring Gull and Great Crested Grebe, whilst Ian Hunt (45) submitted his first list of 2018 where he also added the Little Owl, Merlin, Water Rail. Daz Housman (65) added a Goosander on Bellmoor Lake.

 

Wednesday 3rd Daz Housman (64) added Northern Shoveler, Goldcrest, Common Chiffchaff, Eurasian Skylark, Lesser Redpoll and Reed Bunting, which took him to the top of the table

 

Tuesday 2nd Daz Housman (58) added Egyptian Goose, Common Shelduck, Common Goldeneye, Common Redshank, Ruff, Great Crested Grebe, Common Stonechat, Coal Tit, European Greenfinch and Brambling.

 

Monday 1st Phil Cadman (55) submitted the first List of 2018 with Great Egret, Little Egret and Eurasian Treecreeper, the highlights amongst the more common Lound species. Daz Housman (48) also submitted his first list of 2018, with Little Egret, Common Buzzard and Meadow Pipit, the highlights.
