Wednesday 30th April

Bellmoor Lake - Single female RED-BREASTED MERGANSER (THi) (152) briefly at 9:10am near viewing screen before before flying off north west. Also here 2 Bullfinch, 2 Kingfisher flying together, 4 Red-crested Pochard and 3 Sedge Warbler in song. Walters Lane Pit - Single partial summer plumage male Ruff photographed today. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Single Sparrowhawk and 1 Grey Partridge. Chainbridge Pit - Single Cuckoo calling from fence in south west corner, 1 Grasshopper Warbler on east side and 3 Whitethroat. Chainbridge Lane - Reed Warbler singing in ditch plus singing Lesser Whitethroat in hedgerow and 1 Sparrowhawk over north. Chainbridge NR Scrape - Three Arctic Tern at 13:20pm plus 3 Common Tern and 3 Grey Heron. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single Curlew and 6 Ringed Plover. Neatholme Fen - Up to 4 Shelduck, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 5 Great Black-backed Gull, 1 Herring Gull, 2 Red-crested Pochard and 1 Kingfisher. Neatholme Lane - Single Turtle Dove and Cuckoo noted early morning. Neatholme Scrape - Two Common Tern left to the west at 12:45pm, 1 female Goldeneye, a pair of Wigeon, 1 Hobby high over and 1 Yellow Wagtail. Lound Village - Single RAVEN (DM) having a skirmish with a local crow over here at 12:50pm. Neatholme Lane - Single Turtle Dove (151) noted on power lines opposite Neatholme Fen at 9.00am. Neatholme Scrape - Single Hobby hunting, a pair of Wigeon and 2 Egyptian Geese on small island. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Single Yellow Wagtail. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single Curlew flying low to SW corner. Chainbridge Lane - Up to 6 Reed Warblers occupying territories in reeds along lane. Chainbridge Pit - Single male Bullfinch in bushes on east side. Chainbridge NR Scrape - Single Cuckoo flew over toward western viewpoint plus 1 Grey Heron. Monday 28th April
The Mandarin Duck on Neatholme Scrape caused a bit of a panic for quite a few of the regulars today. Though becoming more common throughout some sites in Nottinghamshire this bird rarely visits here with very few past records. 
Neatholme Scrape - Single male Mandarin Duck (150) in north east corner from 10:00am and around main island until at least 15:00pm, single OSPREY (DRe) over to the south at 11:40am, 2 Egyptian Goose, 1 female Goldeneye, 1 Hobby over to the north at 12:00pm and 1 Cuckoo. Neatholme Fen – Single Little Egret and 2 Red-crested Pochard. Blaco Pits - Two Red-crested Pochard. Blaco Fields - Single Egyptian Goose and a pair of Lapwing feeding 3 juveniles. The Willows (Clayworth Copse) – Single Lesser Whitethroat. Clayworth Common - Single Hobby over here today. Tiln North (Restoration Area)Two Whimbrel noted plus single over to the north, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Ringed Plover and 2 Dunlin. Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) – Two Ruff. Sunday 27th April
Neatholme Scrape - Single OSPREY (IC,ASh) headed north over scrape at 8:30am plus a Little Tern (149) flew in from the south and briefly circled low over the scrape at 11:15am but then quickly departed high NE, then a single Black Tern was seen twice over a short period at 16:30pm before going missing. Also, a pair of Wigeon still present and 1 Egyptian Goose. Neatholme Fen - Single Lesser Whitethroat along lane side in Blackthorn. Cross Lane Marsh - Single Cuckoo heard. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Up to 3 Whimbrel, up to 3 Dunlin, 4 Oystercatcher. Also another visitor report of an OSPREY catching a fish from here and landing on a tree stump on the common to eat it. Saturday 26th April
Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Five Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plover and 2 Little Ringed Plover. Plus 9 Black-tailed Godwits and 1 Little Gull through NE before heavy rain at 1:50pm. (D.Evans)

Friday 25th April
Chainbridge Lane (Old Tarmac Yard) - Two Little Ringed Plover and 2 Stock Dove. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Two Whimbrel feeding here today. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Single Whimbrel feeding here today. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Three Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plover, 2 Wheatear, 1 Curlew and Sparrowhawk over. Tiln Fishery - Two male Cuckoos having a skirmish above treetops before both flying off SW , 2 Kingfisher and 1 Dunlin. Neatholme Fen - A total of 13 Arctic Tern flew north over here, 10 House Martin and single Little Egret and Kingfisher. Wildgoose Farm - Two Buzzard. Thursday 24th April
Bellmoor Lake - Two Common Sandpiper on main island early morning, 5 Red-crested Pochard, 1 Common Tern and 1 Garden Warbler. Chainbridge Pit - Single OSPREY (THi) (148) noted here at 2:50pm then drifted across the back of the pit and was lost towards Tiln North. Also here, 1 Cuckoo singing on west bank before flying to east bank, 1 Grasshopper Warbler reeling near south-east corner. Chainbridge Lane - Single Reed Warbler singing in ditch opposite path to scrape viewpoint. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single Wheatear, 3 Ringed Plover, 1 Whimbrel and 1 Yellow Wagtail. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Single Whimbrel flew east at 11:45pm, 4 Ruff and 2 Reed Warbler. Chainbridge Meadows - Single Grasshopper Warbler reeling at 17:35pm. Windsurf Pool - Single Tawny Owl calling late afternoon. Neatholme Lane - Counts of 9 Willow Warbler, 7 Blackcap, 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Garden Warbler and 1 Lesser Whitethroat. Blaco - Three Sedge Warbler singing beside path, a flock of 9 Linnet near shoreline, 2 male Red-crested Pochard and 7 Oystercatcher. Neatholme Fen -  Single Whitethroat and Lesser Whitethroat in scrub on north side plus 1 Little Egret and 248 Great Black-backed Gulls. Neatholme Scrape - Two Egyptian Goose on island at north end plus 2 Little Gull (148) present at 16:15pm, one bird left to the north at 16:21pm and one remained until 16:35pm at least. Wednesday 23rd April
Tiln North (Restoration Area) - A flock of 13 Whimbrel looking to land but then heading north over here at 9:40am with two Whimbrel still present here around mid afternoon. Also here, 1 Peregrine hunting area at 13:30pm, 1 Curlew, 2 Ringed Plover and 1 Yellow Wagtail. Clayworth Common - Single Hobby (147) hunting briefly at 13:30pm then east. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Single Whimbrel at 13:45pm plus 2 Grey Partridge. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Two Ruff and 1 Snipe. Lound Village - Single RED KITE (PCo) flew south over here at 15:50pm. Cross Lane Fishery - Single Garden Warbler. Neatholme Fen - Single Black-tailed Godwit (146) flew off West from here at 6:55am plus single Garden Warbler and Lesser Whitethroat noted. Neatholme Pit - Five Goldeneye. Tuesday 22nd April
Approx 16 Arctic Tern over site today and a single Whimbrel on the deck at Conservation Lake.
Bellmoor Lake - Single Arctic Tern noted during heavy rain early morning plus, 3 Red-crested Pochard, 2 Shelduck, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 3+ Reed Bunting, 25+ adult Lesser Black-backed Gull and 1 Common Tern present on small island at 14:45-15:00pm. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single Ringed Plover with 4 Little Ringed Plover on eastern shoreline plus 2 (pair) Red-crested Pochard, 1 female Wheatear, 1 Cuckoo calling and Peregrine on distant pylon again. Chainbridge Pit - Single Arctic Tern noted here at 10:30am plus 1 Cuckoo and 1 Lesser Whitethroat. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Single Arctic Tern north over here with a fish at 11:15am. Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) - Five Ruff still present. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Single Whimbrel feeding on eastern shoreline, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 House Martin, 2 Reed Bunting, 1 Yellow Wagtail and 2 Skylark. Cross Lane Marsh - Single Cuckoo. Windsurf Pool - Single male Red-crested Pochard and 2+ Reed Warbler in SE corner reeds. Bittern Pools - Single Green Woodpecker, several Blackcap, Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler. Cross Lane - Two Garden Warbler near Water Ski Pit entrance. Neatholme Lane - Single Lesser Whitethroat at junction with Cross Lane in Blackthorn scrub plus 1 Garden Warbler and c10 Blackcap noted. Neatholme Fen - Single Kingfisher, c150+ Sand Martin, c20 Swallow, c30 mixed immature gulls, 4 Great Crested Grebe and 1 male Teal. Neatholme Pit - Two Great Crested Grebe plus 7 Arctic Tern briefly at 1:00pm moving off NE. Neatholme Scrape - A further flock of 8 Arctic Tern still present at same time as Neatholme Pit birds but these remained feeding and resting on small islands in NW corner until 2.00pm when they all left high to NE. Monday 21st April
As expected, the continuing light easterly winds have brought in more migrant terns and waders today. Two to four Whimbrel, two possible Bar-tailed Godwit, Greenshank and a couple of Black Terns.
Chainbridge Lane (Horse Paddock) - Two Mistle Thrush. Chainbridge Lane (Old Tarmac Yard) - Two Little Ringed Plover, 2 Pied Wagtail and 10 Linnet. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Two Whimbrel (144) noted here at 8:00am then flew NE at 8:35am plus single Peregrine over Tiln village, 2 (pair) Wheatear, 4 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Curlew feeding on east bank late evening, 1 Ringed Plover, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker in track side willows and Peregrine again on distant pylon at 15:00pm. Two Whimbrel present again here from 14:15pm until 17:08pm at least with at least 1 Wheatear. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Single Greenshank landed briefly then flew NE at 18:15pm plus 38 Yellow Wagtails. Chainbridge Wood NR - Single Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers. Chainbridge Pit - Single Black Tern (145) and Arctic Tern noted at 11:00am this morning plus 2 possible Bar-tailed Godwit which flew east, 2 Whimbrel flew east, 1 Grasshopper Warbler 'reeling' and a possible distant RAVEN (DHu) noted. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Single adult Mediterranean Gull flew north over viewpoint at 13:15pm, 2 Ruff, 5 Swallow and 1 House Martin. Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) - Three Ruff and 1 Black Tern. Water Ski Pit - Single Cuckoo calling from areas east of pit. Cross Lane - Single Cuckoo calling from dead tree. River Idle (Neatholme Scrape) - Single Cuckoo sat on riverside fence posts. Neatholme Pit - Seven Goldeneye. Neatholme Scrape - Single Sedge Warbler singing in reeds at bend in river. Neatholme Lane - Single Lesser Whitethroat singing and showing well just east of Cross Lane junction. Neatholme Fen - Single Lesser Whitethroat, Kingfisher, Little Egret, House Martin and Yellow Wagtail plus 2 Egyptian Geese, 2 Little Ringed Plover and 60 Sand Martin. Wildgoose Farm - Two Buzzard. Blaco - Three Buzzard in area. Sheep Fields (Low Level) - Single Kingfisher flew along dyke here. A light passage of Arctic Tern (c20-26 birds) through the area today with many Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Blackcap and Willow Warbler still noted over the site.
Bellmoor Lake - Reports of between 3 (2:23Pm), 9 (2:33pm) and 13 Arctic Terns here today with 13 birds noted resting on islands and feeding before leaving together NE. Also here, 1 female Goosander, 1 Shelduck, 2 male Red-crested Pochard, 1 Pochard, 77 Tufted Duck, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Lapwing, c20 House Martin, c100 Sand Martin around council dump site, 20+ Swallows, 3 Swift, 4 Cormorant, 330 Black-headed Gull, 35 Lesser Black-backed Gull (including 29 adults), 2 Long-tailed Tit, 3 Sedge Warbler, 3 Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, 9+ Willow Warbler, 2 Reed Bunting and 2 Goldfinch. Hallcroft Sewage Works - Two Linnet. Bellmoor Ponds - Single Great Spotted Woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Treecreeper, Song Thrush and 2 Bullfinch noted on NWT bird walk this morning. Neatholme Scrape - Six Arctic Tern were noted here earlier today with 2 Arctic Tern still present from 5:00pm until 6:30pm but these left unnoticed, also here, 3 Fieldfare moved north along river late evening, c200 Sand Martin, c20 Swallow, 1 House Martin, 2 Meadow Pipit, 4+ Whitethroat, 5 Blackcap, 5 Willow Warbler, 4 Goldeneye, 1 Kestrel and 2 Kingfisher flew over NE corner. River Idle (Neatholme Bridge) - Up to 3 Kingfisher here late evening including a pair seen copulating in riverside Willow. Bellmoor Lake - Two male Red-crested Pochard and 1 Dunlin. Chainbridge Lane (Old Tarmac Yard) - Four Little Ringed Plover here today. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Single Snipe in flight. Chainbridge Pit - Single Grasshopper Warbler (141) noted 'reeling' on eastern side, 1 Little Egret roosting at southern end and Kingfisher. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single Wheatear, Yellow Wagtail, Redshank and Sparrowhawk plus up to 4 Buzzard in area. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Single White Wagtail noted on ploughed field. Blaco - Pair of Red-crested Pochard, 6 Swallow, c50 Sand Martin and 2 House Martin. Neatholme Scrape - Single Common Sandpiper, c100 Sand Martin and 4 Oystercatcher. Wildgoose Farm - Two Buzzard sat on posts. Bellmoor Ponds - Two Blackcap and single Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler. Bunker Wood - Five Blackcap, 3 Chiffchaff, 1 Whitethroat and a pair of Linnet. Neatholme Fen - Two Common Sandpiper, 2 immature Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 1 Greenshank landed briefly at 11:45am, 2 Buzzard, 1 White Wagtail, 2 Green Sandpiper and 1 Redshank. Water Ski Pit - Singing Lesser Whitethroat at 15:25pm  and c200 Sand Martin. Neatholme Lane - Singing Garden Warbler (138) at 14:49pm near gap onto Neatholme Fen. Neatholme Scrape - Single Marsh Harrier flew north being mobbed by crows at 12:15pm plus single Common Sandpiper and Green Sandpiper, 5 Goldeneye, 2 Swallows, 1 Whitethroat calling in NE corner, 1 Reed Warbler by southern screen, and Buzzard over. Cross Lane Fishery - Single Buzzard and Green Woodpecker. Walters Lane Pit - Single Cuckoo (139) seen and heard calling in nearby small copse, 4 Shelduck and 1 White Wagtail. Between Chainbridge Lane and Bellmoor Lake - a total of 16 Wrens were noted singing. Lound (Mattersey Road) - Single TREE PIPIT (DM,VM) (140) was observed briefly and heard singing whilst sat on bushes by the roadside near to entrance road to Blaco Farm at 7.30pm. Neatholme Fen - Single OSPREY (134) (KW) flew over heading towards Lound at 4:30pm, 2 Egyptian Geese, 3 Little Egret, 2 Oystercatcher and 1 Redshank. Neatholme Scrape - Two Oystercatchers and 2 Swallows north. Linghurst Wood - Up to 12 Blackcap (10 males), 2 Willow Warbler and 2 Treecreeper. Wildgoose Farm - Three Buzzard in area. Blaco - Four Oystercatchers. The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Three Buzzard. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Five White Wagtail and 3 Yellow Wagtail. Hayton Common - Single male Wheatear on track east of rape field. Chainbridge Lane (Old Tarmac Yard) - Two Little Ringed Plover. Bellmoor Lake - Three male Red-crested Pochard, 16 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 1 Common Gull, 3 Oystercatcher, 1 Whitethroat, 4 Chiffchaff, 4 Blackcap, 2 Willow Warbler and 1 Reed Bunting. Bunker Wood - Three Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warbler, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Wheatear (on ploughed field over river), 2 Linnet and single Skylark and Song Thrush. The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single female Wheatear in ploughed field east of footbridge at 13:00pm plus 2 Grey Partridge and 1 Yellowhammer. Clayworth Common - Two Whooper Swans with Mute Swan herd, 1 Yellow Wagtail, 2 Red-legged Partridge and 1 Buzzard. Clayworth Common (Conservation Lake) - Single Redshank 2 Yellow Wagtails in adjoining ploughed field and 2 Red-legged Partridge. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single Redshank and Sparrowhawk. Hawthorn Lane - Single Tawny Owl calling during evening. Neatholme Scrape - Single Whitethroat (131) in NE corner at 13:30pm, 1 Common Sandpiper (132) on eastern shoreline from 3:50pm, 4 Goldeneye and 1 Wigeon. Clayworth Common - Two Whooper Swan still with Mute Swan herd plus up to 4 Buzzard. The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - a pair of Bullfinch and 3 Willow Warbler in song. Neatholme Scrape - Two Buzzard over and 1 Green Sandpiper. Linghurst Wood - Single male Sparrowhawk and 2 Buzzard over. Neatholme Fen - Singles of Little Ringed Plover, Redshank. Monday 7th April
Bellmoor Lake - A  single Sandwich Tern (130) was observed early evening from 19.15pm, it repeatedly flew towards Hallcroft Fishery presumably to feed and was still present and glimpsed briefly at 19:45pm, possibly later roosting on the big island. Neatholme Fen - Two Greenshank (129) feeding on island at 9:55am plus single Ringed Plover, Redshank and Snipe bathing. Chainbridge Lane (Old Tarmac Yard) - Single Little Ringed Plover on gravel bank. Windsurf Pool - Single male Red-crested Pochard. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Three Snipe in flight. Sunday 6th April
Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Three Yellow Wagtail (128) noted here this morning. Bellmoor Lake - Three Red-crested Pochard (including 2 males), 2 female Goosander, c14 adult Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 juvenile Herring Gull, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Snipe, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2+ Blackcap, c15 Chaffinch, c10 Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warbler, 5+ Long-tailed Tit, 3+ Reed Bunting and 3+ Skylark on the former Willow fields west of RLC. Saturday 5th April
Neatholme Scrape - A 'possible' Sandwich Tern flew through heading north and following the river. Chainbridge Lane (Old Tarmac Yard) - Four Little Ringed Plover displaying here plus 2 Pied Wagtail. Walters Lane Pit - Single Little Ringed Plover. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single Ringed Plover and Buzzard. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Single RED KITE (MWa) hunting around both scrapes & nearby Windsurf Pool at 13:15pm then it flew south and landed in short rotational coppice where it sat for a while before flying off again, 1 Curlew over towards Tiln North, 4 Snipe, 100+ Sand Martins, 1 Swallow and 1 male Sparrowhawk. Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) - Single Reed Warbler (127) singing from reeds in North west corner. Chainbridge Wood NR - Single Willow Warbler. Bellmoor Lake - Two Willow Warbler. Neatholme Fen - Single Little Egret, Redshank and Dunlin. Clayworth Common - Up to 5 Whooper Swan, 3 Skylark and displaying Lapwing. Chainbridge Wood NR - Single Song Thrush and Chiffchaff. Chainbridge Pit - Single Green Woodpecker, 5 Goldeneye and 2 Oystercatcher. Hawthorn Walk - Two Willow Warbler, 1 Blackcap and 2 Bullfinch.
