Friday 31st August

Tiln Wood - Single Green Woodpecker heard calling. Sandy Hills - Three Goldcrest feeding in Pine Trees. (M.Warne,P.Cadman,A.Bradford,P.Bradford)

Thursday 30th August

The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single Male REDSTART (IC) again and 1 SPOTTED FLYCATCHER (IC) still this evening. Neatholme Scrape - Both sub-adult and juvenile MARSH HARRIERS (IC) noted here this evening. (I.Cowgill)

Wednesday 29th August

The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single WHINCHAT (IC) at 8.30am and now two male REDSTART (IC) present today.

Tuesday 28th August

The male Redstart noted again in the Willows showing that at least two birds remain there.

Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Single Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Snipe, 2 Little Egret, 3 Green Sandpiper, 1 Hobby hawking insects and a PEREGRINE (DM) over. Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) - Up to 50 Sand Martins south over here. Chainbridge Pit - Up to 21Red-crested Pochard. Hayton Common - Single PEREGRINE (TT,VG,KW) hunting at 8.00am. Clayworth Common (Spoil Heaps) - Up to 4 Snipe noted on small pools. The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single male REDSTART (IC,PCo), 4 Whitethroat and 2 Willow Warbler. Clayworth Common - Single Greenshank over and 2 Buzzard. Neatholme Pit - Single Hobby over west and 1 Curlew flew north then west at 12.30pm. Neatholme Scrape - Up to 10 Red-crested Pochard. Neatholme Fen - Two Little Egret and 6 Swifts. Neatholme Lane - Five Blackcaps and 1 Garden Warbler feeding on elder berries. Blaco - Up to 30 Red-crested Pochard, 1 Green Sandpiper and 2 Buzzard. Tarmac Works Yard - Three Little Ringed Plover still including 2 juveniles, 11 Pied Wagtail and 6 Yellow Wagtails. Bellmoor Lake - Four Red-crested Pochard. Sunday 26th August

The Willows (Clayworth Copse) continues to hold good numbers of migrants and summer breeders and there was another light passage of waders throughout the day. An unusually 'early' Goldeneye on Neatholme Fen today.

The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single female REDSTART (GH) still present in open scrub just south of track. Also here, 2 SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS (GH,PH) still along main track, 5+ Whitethroat, 1 Hobby over, 5 Golden Plover over, 2 Swift over, 1 Kestrel, 2 Buzzard over, 10 Goldfinch, 3 Yellowhammer, 1 Willow Warbler, 3+ Chiffchaff, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 1 Willow Tit (calling), a family party of Mistle Thrush and 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Light wader passage noted here with small groups of 2 & 5 Black-tailed Godwits pitching down briefly, 15+ Snipe (including 12 that flew in together) and 1 Green Sandpiper. Also here the 'sub adult' male MARSH HARRIER (AS,GH) noted hunting mid morning, 2 Little Egret, 50+ Shoveler, 1 Jay and a male Reed Bunting feeding a fledged juvenile near viewing screen. Neatholme Fen - Single male Goldeneye and 1 Swift south. Neatholme Scrape - Single Hobby over, 1 Great Crested Grebe and c50 Lapwing. River Idle - Single Kingfisher near Cross Lane. Clayworth Common - Single Yellow Wagtail calling and up to 3 Kestrels in area. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Three Greenshank, up to 3 Buzzard and a female Sparrowhawk noted mid morning. Also here, a small 'calidrid' wader (possibly a Little Stint?) was noted roosting this evening with two other small waders. Saturday 25th August

Bittern Pools - Two (possibly more) Kingfishers were noted here today. (M.Vickers)

Thursday 23rd August

Light wader passage noted with a small part of Ruff dropping onto Chainbridge NR Scrape and an Osprey visited briefly late afternoon.

Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single OSPREY (DM) hovered briefly at 15.50pm before circling Chainbridge Pit and 3 YELLOW-LEGGED GULLS (TT,DM,AB) noted bathing. Chainbridge Pit - Single OSPREY (DM) circled over here at 15.50pm then flew off towards Tiln/Retford. Bellmoor Lake - Single OSPREY (JS) flew over here at c16.00pm after leaving Chainbridge area. Wildgoose Farm (Area) - Two Swift over and 1 Turtle Dove on wires. Neatholme Fen - Three Little Egret, 20+ Yellow Wagtail, 2 Pied Wagtail, 10+ Goldfinch and 5 Linnets. Neatholme Lane - Single Willow Tit and 1 female Blackcap noted with mixed warbler/tit flock. Water Ski Pit - Up to 5 Lesser Whitethroat and 1 Whitethroat noted in a mixed warbler/tit flock in scrub on eastern edge. Blaco - Up to 32 Red-crested Pochard and up to 6 Buzzard in area. Clayworth Common - Single Little Ringed Plover. Hayton Common - Single PEREGRINE noted roosting on a distant pylon south of Tiln North. River Idle - Single Kingfisher noted by Chainbridge Bridge area. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - A group of 7 Ruff flew in, 3 Snipe and up to 3 Little Egret noted. Tuesday 21st August

The Willows (Clayworth Copse) producing good numbers of birds today including a migrant Tree Pipit, a female Redstart and 2 Spotted Flycatchers still present.

The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single TREE PIPIT (IC) in NW corner and calling at 9.55am, 1 female REDSTART (IC) and 2 SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS (IC) still present. Good numbers of birds noted here today. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single sub adult MARSH HARRIER (IC) and 1 PEREGRINE (IC) present here today. Chainbridge NR Scrape - Two Ruff, 1 Little Egret and up to 8 Snipe present. Neatholme Fen - Five Swifts feeding, 3 Little Egrets and 1 Greenshank calling. Wildgoose Farm - Two Lesser Whitethroat in hedgerow again, 1 Blackcap and up to 20 Yellow Wagtails. Monday 20th August

The male Redstart remained with two Spotted Flycatchers in The Willows and 2 migrant Whimbrels were noted over Blaco.

The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single male REDSTART (TT,VG,KW) still present and 2 SPOTTED FLYCATCHER (TT,VG,KW) continue to feed along the eastern edge viewable from the footpath bridge over the dyke.

Neatholme Fen - Single Common Tern. Neatholme Scrape - Up to 20 Red-crested Pochard present. Wildgoose Farm - Two Lesser Whitethroat and 3 Yellow Wagtail. Blaco - Single juvenile MARSH HARRIER over and 2 WHIMBREL (TT,VG,KW) flew over calling. Clayworth Common - Two MARSH HARRIERS were noted today including a juvenile and the sub-adult male bird that has been present for some time now. Also here a single Buzzard was noted. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single Green Sandpiper and two adult YELLOW-LEGGED GULLS roosting. Hayton Common - Single MARSH HARRIER flew over and 1 Buzzard and 1 male Sparrowhawk also nearby. Chainbridge Pit - Up to 22 Red-crested Pochard present here and 2 Turtle Dove flew in. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Up to 4 Snipe noted. Walters Lane Pit - Single Green Sandpiper and Snipe noted. Tarmac Works Yard - Three Little Ringed Plover (incl 2 juveniles) noted on pools here with 3 Yellow Wagtails. Lound Horse Paddocks - Up to 19 Pied Wagtail with 3 Yellow Wagtails present. The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single male REDSTART (PCa,MW) still present with 2 SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS (PCa,MW). Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Tufted Duck with four young. Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) - Single SPOTTED REDSHANK (DE) and 2 Little Egrets. Wildgoose Farm - Single Barn Owl noted. Neatholme Pit - Single Mute Swan bearing a red colour-ring no 252 was noted. Sunday 12th August

Two different Redstarts now in The Willows - its a repeat of last autumn when upwards of 5 individuals were sighted during post breeding autumn migration.

Chainbridge NR Scrape (West) - Two Little Egrets. Chainbridge Lane - Single Turtle Dove. Clayworth Common (Spoil Heaps) - Single Turtle Dove. The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single male REDSTART (PCo,IC) plus another female REDSTART (IC), 2 SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS (IC, PCo) still and 1 Hobby over west. Neatholme Scrape - Single Common Sandpiper. Neatholme Fen - Two Common Terns still. Sheep Field (Lower) - Single PEREGRINE (PCa) flew SE over. Walters Lane - Single Little Owl in usual area. Saturday 11th August

Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Three WHIMBREL (SD,DM) on deck for an hour from 14.30pm and 1 PEREGRINE (SD,DM) again. The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single male REDSTART (IC,SD) still present with up to 3 SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS (IC,SD) and 1 Whitethroat. Hayton Common - Single Hobby over. Chainbridge NR Scrape - Single Snipe and up to 7 Grey Herons. (I.Cowgill,S.Davenport)

Friday 10th August

Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Two Green Sandpipers. Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single female PEREGRINE (TT) still roosting on usual post at 7.15am and 1 adult YELLOW-LEGGED GULL (TT,KW) present around midday. Clayworth Common (Spoil Heaps) - Up to 5 Green Sandpipers feeding around pools at 8.00am. Clayworth Common - Single female MARSH HARRIER over at 8.30am. The Willows (Clayworth Copse) - Single immature MARSH HARRIER (TT) over at 8.45am and male REDSTART (TT) still present until 10.15am at least. Neatholme Fen - Two Little Egrets. Todays male Redstart found in The Willows this morning was a different individual to the other recent male bird there!

Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single PEREGRINE (PCo) sat on usual post today. The Willows - Single SPOTTED FLYCATCHER (PCo) at 9.30am and a male REDSTART (IC & PCo) at 11.30am. Neatholme Scrape - Single Common Sandpiper and up to 3 Common Buzzard over. Neatholme Fen - Up to 4 Little Egrets and 7 Common Tern. Good numbers of common warblers in trees by Chainbridge Lane bridge and in The Willows. (P.Cottam,I.Cowgill,D.Housman)

Saturday 4th August

Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single PEREGRINE (PCo) and 1 WHEATEAR (PCo). Clayworth Common (Spoil Heaps) - Single Little Egret. Neatholme Scrape - Single Common Sandpiper and 2 Curlew over south. Neatholme Fen - Up to 5 Common Tern. (P.Cottam)

Friday 3rd August

The single Peregrine is now a regular feature sat atop of the short marker stcks on Tiln North (Restoration Area). Keep an eye out for it!

Tiln North (Restoration Area) - Single adult PEREGRINE (GH) sat roosting on a short marker post on the main central island, also here 1 Turtle Dove over heading strongly South East, 1 adult YELLOW-LEGGED GULL (GH), 3 Common Gulls, c15 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, c10 Great Black-backed Gulls, a female Tufted Duck with 3-4 ducklings and a female Mallard with 5+ ducklings. Clayworth Common (Spoil Heaps) - Single sub-adult male MARSH HARRIER (GH) being harrassed by up to 3 Kestrels, 2 Redshank, 1 Yellow Wagtail over and up to 6 Reed Buntings in nearby rape field. Chainbridge NR Scrape (East) - Up to 45 Shoveler and 1 Great Crested Grebe. Chainbridge Wood NR - Single Great Spotted Woodpecker. Chainbridge Lane - Single Green Woodpecker and 1 Jay.
