Butterflies August 2018

The 2018 Year List stands at 25 Recorded Species. The Reserve List has 29 Recorded Species

 

Report up to Sunday, 16 September 2018

 

Wednesday 29th Week Twenty Two of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced (4) Large White, (2), Small White, (2) Speckled Wood, (3) Red Admiral, a single Small Tortoiseshell and (4) Comma, in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR' transect. Alan's Meadow produced (8) Large White, (3) Small White, (6) Speckled Wood, (4) Meadow Brown, a single Gatekeeper, (3) Small Tortoiseshell, (5) Small Copper, (2) Brown Argus and (8) male Common Blue. The final Transect was the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake) where (3) Large White, (3) Speckled Wood, and a single Comma were recorded. Also noted around the reserve were (6) Large White, (10) Speckled Wood and (3) Comma, were recorded. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

Tuesday 28th. There were (10) Large White, a single Green-veined White, (2) Speckled Wood and a single Comma, that were recorded around 'Neatholme Scrape' and the 'Willows'. (Tony Tomlinson, Ian Hunt)

Saturday 25th. There was a single Small Heath and Holly Blue, with (2) Small Copper, (2) Brown Argus and (7) Common Blue., that were noted around the 'Lower Sheep Fields'. (Pete Freeman).

Monday 20th. Week Twenty One of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR' produced (6) Large White, (2) Small White, a single Green-veined White, (5) Speckled Wood, (2) Red Admiral, a single Painted Lady, (4) Small Tortoiseshell and (2) Comma. In Alan's Meadow there were (6) Large White, singles of Small White and Speckled Wood, (16) Meadow Brown, (3) Gatekeeper, a single Brown Argus, and (16) Common Blue, that included just two females. There were only (4) Large White, that were noted in the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake). We did note (4) Large White, (2) Small White and (2) Speckled Wood, around the reserve though. Wednesday 15th. A walk around Linghurst Lakes ('Parish Park') and 'Linghurst Wood' produced (19) Large White, (3) Small White, a single Green-veined White, a pair of Brimstone, (34) Speckled Wood, singles of Ringlet and Gatekeeper, (8) Meadow Brown, (2) Comma, (10) Brown Argus, and (20) Common Blue, which included 16 males. Monday 13th. Week Twenty of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced (4) Large White, singles of Speckled Wood and Ringlet, (27) Meadow Brown, (2) Gatekeeper and (1) Common Blue, that included three females were all recorded in Alan's Meadow transect. There was a single Large White and just (2) Speckled Wood, that were recorded in the 'Chainbridge Wood NR' transect. The Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake) transect produced just (2) Green-veined White, and (4) Speckled Wood. Also noted around the reserve were (2) Large White, (2) Small White, (4) Green-veined White, (26) Speckled Wood and a single Gatekeeper. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

 

Saturday 11th. There was a single Small Skipper, (6) Large White, (3) Small White, a single Brimstone, (10) Speckled Wood, (3) Meadow Brown, (3) Gatekeeper, (4) Red Admiral, (13) Brown Argus and (17) Common Blue, that were recorded around the reserve (Pete Freeman, Bernard and Maureen Featherstone.)

 

Thursday 9th. There were (7) Large White, (10) Small White, (2) Green-veined White, (12) Speckled Wood, (2) Meadow Brown, a single Comma and (2) Common Blue. (Phil Cadman, Martin Warne)

 

Tuesday 7th There were (6) Large White, a single Small White, (2) Green-veined White, (2) Small White, (10) Meadow Brown, (4) Gatekeeper, (5) Red Admiral, singles of Painted Lady, Small Tortoiseshell and Peacock, (3) Comma, singles of Small Copper, and Brown Argus, with (4) Common Blue. Monday 6th. Week nineteen of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transect recording produced (2) Meadow Brown, (2) Small Skipper, (7) Large White, singles of Brimstone, and Speckled Wood, (56) Meadow Brown, (3) Gatekeeper, singles of Small Copper and Brown Argus and (18) Common Blue, which included (3) female were all recorded in the Alan's Meadow transect.  There were (5) Large White, a single Small White, (2) Speckled Wood, (3) Meadow Brown, (3) Red Admiral, with singles of Comma and Small Tortoiseshell, were recorded in 'Chainbridge Wood NR'. There were (3) Large White, with singles of Meadow Brown and Green-veined White, that were recorded in the Education Meadow (Bellmoor Lake). Also recorded around the reserve were (8) Large White, a single Green-veined White, (9) Speckled Wood, with singles of Meadow Brown, Common Blue, and Holly Blue. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

Saturday 4th. There was a single (3) Small Skipper, (4) Speckled Wood, (3) Red Admiral, a single Painted Lady, (2) Small Tortoiseshell, (2) Comma, (7) Purple Hairstreak, (3) Holly Blue, (3) Brown Argus and (1) Common Blue, that included a single female. (Pete Freeman)

 

Friday 3rd. There were (40) Large White, (2) Small White, (19) Green-veined White, (9) Speckled Wood, (49) Meadow Brown, (10) Gatekeeper, (13) Red Admiral, a single Small Tortoiseshell, (4) Comma and (12) Common Blue, that included a single female. (Tony Tomlinson)
