Our Thanks to Trevor and Dilys Pendleton of Eakringbirds.com, Tim Sexton (Attenborough NWT Reserve Manager), Sean Foote (UK Moth Identification Twitter), Dave Budworth the Nott's Micro County Recorder, Martin Gray, the Lincolnshire County Moth Recorder who is also responsible for Determination by Genitalia Examination (gen. det.) and to Dr Sheila Wright the Nott's Macro County Recorder, who are responsible for the identification/verification of all the new Lound/IVNR Moth Species.

Sunday 18th. Tim Sexton (Attenborough NWT Reserve Manager) had a walk around the 'Visitors Centre' where he found singles of 35.1230 Scrobipalpa costella (Winter Groundling), 66.0010 Poecilocampa populi (December Moth) and a 70.2560 Erannis defoliaria (Mottled Umber), which was a Reserve Year addition. They were all roosting on the wall of the building.

Friday 16th. There were two 70.1070 Epirrita dilutata (November Moth), that were disturbed as we had joined the NWT (Nott's Wildlife Trust) volunteers that were removing the scrub on the Western edge of 'Neatholme Scrape'. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

Thursday 15th. The 'Lound Moth Group' of Phil Cadman and Melanie Newman held a 'Moth Trapping Session' in the North-Muddy Fork Allotment. Again, the weather was mild for the time of year, the temperature ranged from 12°C to 13°C. We used two traps and caught a total of 21 Moths of 7 Different Species. However, the record number of Moth Species recorded in the year which was 418 and recorded in 2014, was broken when recording the 35.1230 Scrobipalpa costella (Winter Groundling). Monday 12th. The 'Lound Moth Group' of Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt and Melanie Newman held a 'Moth Trapping Session' on the North-East corner of 'Chainbridge Pit'. The weather was mild for the time of year, the temperature ranged from 9°C to 10°C. We used two traps and caught a total of just 10 Moths of 3 Different Species.

There was a single 70.2440 Colotois pennaria (Feathered Thorn), that was recorded in flight near the Charcon Works. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

 Tuesday 6th. There was a single 70.2440 Colotois pennaria (Feathered Thorn), that MN found in her car after visiting 'Tiln North Wader Scrape'. (Melanie Newman)

Monday 5th. There were (c20) 19.0140 Acrolepia autumnitella (Bittersweet Smudge) which was an addition to the Reserve Year List and (15) 32.0181 Agonopterix heracliana/cilella agg. (Common/Large Carrot Flat Body agg.), that were recorded hibernating on the walls of the First Hide in 'Chainbridge Wood NR'. Also noted was a single 15.0100 Caloptilia stigmatella (White-triangle Slender), that was noted roosting on the window of the 'IVNR Visitors Centre'.

In the evening the 'Lound Moth Group' of Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt, Melanie Newman and Arthur Rogerson held a 'Moth Trapping Session' on 'Chainbridge Scrape (W)', the weather was mild and clear the temperature ranged from 7°C to 9°C. We used two traps and caught a total of 67 Moths of 14 Different Species, which included two Year additions (highlighted in Green) taking the Total of different Species of Moths recorded around the Reserve for the year to 418, which equalled the record Reserve Year total which had previously been achieved in 2014. The 73.1960 Conistra ligula (Dark Chestnut), was only the third Reserve record and the first since 2014. The 73.3270 Agrotis ipsilon (Dark Sword-grass), was only the seventh Reserve record, but five of those records have occurred this year. The single 73.1130 Phlogophora meticulosa (Angle Shades) and the 73.2330 Aporophyla nigra (Black Rustic), were both Latest Year sightings neither Moth had ever been recorded in the month of November before.
