Wednesday 26th There were (3) different specie of Moths that were recorded whilst carrying out Week Twenty six of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transects, there were singles of 72.0030 Hypena proboscidalis (The Snout), 72.0170 Orgyia antiqua (The Vapourer) and 72.0030 Hypena proboscidalis (The Snout).

The 'Lound Moth Group' of Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt and Melanie Newman held a 'Moth Trapping Session' on 'Chainbridge Scrape (E)' using two Robinson 125W Moth Traps, one was placed by the 'Viewing Screen', whilst the other was placed at the entrance to the footpath. The temperature ranged from 13°C to 16°C, there was little or no wind. There was a total of 245 Moths that were trapped of 50 different Species, of which 7 were LBC/IVNR-Year Addition and are highlighted in Green. The 70.1230 Triphosa dubitata (The Tissue), was only the second record for the Reserve following the single specimen that was recorded in August 2014.

Friday 21st The 'Lound Moth Group' of Phil Cadman and Melanie Newman held a 'Moth Trapping Session' in the Muddy Fork Allotment using two Robinson 125W Moth Traps. The temperature ranged from 10°C to 12°C, the wind that had been really strong over the last week finally relented. Report to follow, waiting for final Moth identification results. There was a total of 30 Moths that were trapped, of 16 different Species, of which there were no LBC/IVNR-Year Addition(s) and a single LBC/IVNR-Life & Year Addition which is highlighted in Red. We are still awaiting the identification of one Micro.

Friday 14th. There was a single 72.0780 Catocala nupta (Red Underwing), that was found roosting on the wall of the 'IVNR Visitors Centre'. (Melanie Newman)

Thursday 13th. There were (3) different specie of Moths that were recorded whilst carrying out Week Twenty Four of the 2018 NWT Butterfly Transects, there were singles of 48.0010 Anthophila fabriciana (Common Nettle-tap) and 72.0170 Orgyia antiqua (The Vapourer) and (2) 72.0030 Hypena proboscidalis (The Snout). Wednesday 12th The 'Lound Moth Group' held a 'Moth Trapping Session' on the North side of 'Tiln Pit's'. There were 3 members present. Melanie Newman, Phil Cadman and Ian Hunt, with three Robinson 125W Moth Traps. We trapped from 20:00-23:30. The temperature ranged from7°C to 12°C. There was a total of 119 Moths that were trapped of 29 different Species, of which 3 were LBC/IVNR-Year Addition and are highlighted in Green.

Sunday 9th. There was a single 72.0780 Catocala nupta (Red Underwing), that was recorded in flight around the footbridge over the dyke on the Eastern side of the 'Willows'. (Phil Cadman, Ian Hunt)

Friday 7th. The 'Lound Moth Group' held a 'Moth Trapping Session' on the Eastern side of the 'IVNR Visitors Centre'. The single Robinson 125W Moth Trap was left out overnight and emptied the following morning by Melanie Newman, Phil Cadman and Ian Hunt. The temperature ranged from 14°C to 8°C. There was a total of 27 Moths that were trapped of 16 different Species, of which 2 were LBC/IVNR-Year Addition and are highlighted in Green.

There were three members that were present Melanie Newman, Phil Cadman, and Ian Hunt, who trapped from 20:30-01:15 using three Robinson 125W Moth Traps. The temperature ranged from 12°C to 16°C. There was a total of 334 Moths that were trapped of 26 different Species, of which 4 were LBC/IVNR-Year Addition and are highlighted in Green and the single 37.0350 Coleophora alcyonipennella (Clover Case-bearer), which was a LBC/IVNR Life Addition and is highlighted in Red.
